SPENCER LEADER -  well deserved recognition for the hard work and long service given to St Annes Royal British Legion, as mentioned in the Queens birthday Honours list.

It was announced  today that her majesty has awarded him the MBE. Spencer has spent the major part of his life in one position or another, from Club Steward, standard bearer, Chairman, and  President, filling in as Secretary, helping with Welfare, etc.  But his outstanding work as Poppy Organiser, increased the amount raised from £400, when he started, to yet another record breaking total of £25,000 in 2009. St Annes and its Royal British Legion, is very lucky to have a man of such caliber.

In typical modest fashion, Spencer said “ I am lucky that all those years ago, I chose to be a member of St Annes RBL, where I have been privileged to work alongside a great team of caring people “.                                                                                         12th June 2010
